My grandmother had a saying: “Your job as a parent is to give your children roots and wings.” I see storytelling to hold a similar role in our lives. Stories root us in ourselves, our communities and our countries. They are a grounding force that allows to examine and interrogate not just who we are, but where we know from and why that is so important. Our memory is our roots and the retelling of those stories are our wings—they connect us.

Offerings
Rachael works with organizations and individuals on telling meaningful stories and designing programing that sits at the intersection of memoir, education and community building. Her work with clients begins as an enthusiastic thought partner and then can lead a project from being a seed of an idea through the design stage, production and releasing it to the world.
As a speaker, moderator and facilitator, Rachael is comfortable creating the space for intimate small-group conversations as well as taking the stage at large gatherings. She regularly tells her own story and leads workshops and art-based programming for students from as young as fourth grade through adult education. She also coaches individuals who are working with their own family archives and on memoir projects.
