WE SHARE THE SAME SKY
WE SHARE THE SAME SKY is an interdisciplinary project that tells the story of my decade-long journey to retrace my grandmother’s wartime history. It started in 2009 when I was in college and asked my grandmother to tell me her story. I knew she was the only Holocaust survivor in her family and spent the wartime years being saved my strangers. Our time talking about her past along with the extensive archive she left behind after her death led me across Europe and the United States to explore how memories are passed from one generation to the next. This story has been retold as a narrative podcast, memoir, and curated for exhibitions, as well as used as a base for family history workshops, classroom curriculums, art-based programming, and more.
